WHERE DOES MY WATER COME FROM?

The source of the City of Homer's water is Bridge Creek Reservoir. A pump station on the reservoir lifts the raw, untreated water up to the water treatment plant located on Skyline Drive above Homer.

SOURCE WATER ASSESSMENT AND ITS AVAILABILITY.

The City of Homer has a watershed protection ordinance in place which is designed to protect Bridge Creek Reservoir from excessive run off and contamination.

WATER TREATMENT PROCESS: The source water is filtered at the water treatment plant to remove silt (turbidity) and color. The PH (acidity) of the water is adjusted to reduce corrosion in your home's plumbing and a corrosion inhibitor is added to the finished water for further protection. Also, chlorine is added to inactivate any disease causing organisms.
